Yes, the games were CHEAP, but that's no excuse. I now wish I had not just bought these games a few days ago. This is what happens when a company gobbles up other good game companies, fires nearly everyone, then farms their customer service out to clueless tech support in foreign countries for the cheapest wages! So, EA is shutting down online support for Merc 2 because supposedly too few players play it, WHEN MANY PLAYERS CAN'T EVEN LOG ON TO PLAY IT IN THE FIRST PLACE! OH, THE IRONY and the corporate shill STUPIDITY!ĮA's customer support response times are now either nonexistent or take WEEKS or MONTHS to even get one! And if you happen to actually get help from EA on an online chat, it is a canned response which is usually USELESS for most technical and bug problems! Rather than fix the many bugs in this game, like being able to LOG ONLINE TO PLAY IT (see EA's many forum posts about this log in failure), lazy EA instead decided to SHUT IT DOWN! Merc 2 was ONLY released for a year and a half! EA gobbled up and ate Pandemic that made it, and now they killed the bastard stepchild for desert, too! LOTR-Conq was ONLY released for a year and a half! Online servers for these games are to be SHUT DOWN on March 16, 2010! and MERC 2 last Friday, and hadn't even received them yet! >Lord of the Rings: Conquest for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Oh yeah, thats right, valve already did that with episodic content (although, to be fair, the price point for each episode is much lower than a full game's price).Ĭlick to expand. How long till you only get half a game to start, and have to pay more to actually finish the game? If this type of downloadable content does well enough, then things will only get worse. I said I didn't really mind the extra paid content, but I do know how this stuff works. Price point seems a bit steep for listed playtime. Will I buy the expansion pack they've announced? Perhaps. Sure, it would have been nice if it was released with the original game, but it wasn't, so I wont see it. As long as the original product stands up by itself as a finished project, I don't mind bioware and EA's attempt at making more money off a popular game. Is this type of thinking really that weird? From what I've read here, It must be. Nor did I really begrudge them the fact that they had downloadable content. And I was not once tempted to pay for the extra content. I thoroughly enjoyed the game, and thought it was well worth the money I paid for it. I bought none of it, only installing the 1 or 2 items I got for free with the preorder. You know, I preordered the regular version of DA:O, knowing there was going to be downloadable content. If this is successful all games will start employing some form of DLC eventually. There's no way it's not going to affect your enjoyment of the original game. This is only to answer those who say DA has enough content on it's own and to just ignore the DLC if you don't want to pay for it. What if they had advertised the encounter with what's-his-face (the drow) as DLC, so you could get the defender +5? I was barely able to scrape enough $ to buy BG it really would have bugged the hell out of me to know I didn't have access to everything. Would even my first game of BG have been as enjoyable if I KNEW that Bioware was holding back some content and charging extra for it? Hours later, I'm still at the bottom of the map exporing and tieing up loose ends. That save was from one of the Cloakwood tiles and my party was loaded up with loot, so I worked my way out of the woods (I had forgotten how hard that is) and back to Beregost to check out what I hadn't bought from the smith. I played for at least 7-8 hours and didn't even advance the main plot. Hell - Over Christmas I loaded up and played an old save after everyone else had crashed. There's enought content in BG to last for months. Baldur's Gate is probably my all time favorite game. This could signify that the road to nationhood is stained with struggle and blood, but in the end we will just be whirlwinds of dust and ashes. The flag of the Philippines is shown clean in the beginning, becoming soiled as it is brought to the battlefield, and finally burned. What symbols could we find in “Heneral Luna?”Ī fellow reviewer pointed out that the mangy dog and the cart breaking as Luna’s soldiers attempt to cross the river after him are both signs of bad luck. Antonio Luna met with a violent death, the film made me care about the events that led up to that grim end – whether those events were factual or imaginary.įor a film to do this, it must speak to us in pictures and sounds, since film is both. For instance, even if I already know via historical “chismis” down the generations that Gen. It’s the feeling I get when I cannot wait to watch what happens next. As to plot, here’s my take on that: Although sometimes I already know how a film will end (through foreshadowing, plant-and-payoff, etc.), I still like to be surprised while I’m watching something for the first time. I honestly found that cool: a scene modeling the modesty still so ingrained during that time. In an attempt at subtle flirtation, Heneral Luna and Isabel brush their hands lightly against each other. The writing, thank goodness, is not the stiff and wooden dialogue of historical films past, but refreshingly “real,” as real as the crispiest expletives that shock or the most earnest lines of poetry that stir nationalism in one’s heart (“In the end, we shall be like whirlwinds of dust” – or something to that effect). To some politicos at the time, this scenario could have been perceived as a threat. Even so, it does not detract from the point of the scene: Heneral Luna can be charismatic enough to win over ordinary Filipinos. However, I did notice that their clothes were simply variations of blue and white, so I was asking myself if this was already CGI. I felt chills down my spine during the scene when the General was able to convince a large crowd of men and women to build the trenches that they need for their strategy. Well, in terms of cinematography, writing, acting, and plot, “Heneral Luna” is quite ambitious in scope. In the end, it is Luna’s well-known pride and temper that seal his fate as a group of soldiers assassinate him in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija. Regionalism and insubordination mar the unity of the fighting forces. “Heneral Luna” is insistent on fighting for freedom, but some of his cabinet colleagues around the planning table with President Emilio Aguinaldo (Mon Confiado) prefer to compromise with the enemy. After more than 300 years of being under Spanish rule, the Philippines is now sold to the United States, under which rule the native country now becomes. General Antonio Luna, superbly portrayed by John Arcilla, is in charge of the Philippine revolutionary army, and he is in über-fight mode. Let’s begin with some background: During the Philippine-American war, “Heneral Luna,” a military leader with a fiery temperament, contends with an enemy more treacherous than the “Amerikano”: his own duplicitous countrymen. He destroys the building and believes he has killed both Akuma and Kazuya. As Akuma and Kazuya fight, Heihachi orders the building to be targeted by the Mishima Zaibatsu's Orbital Laser Satellite. Heihachi manages to capture footage of Kazuya turning into a devil, and broadcasts it live to the world. They fight and Kazuya turns into his devil form. Akuma replies that he owes a debt to Kazumi because she saved his life. Kazuya asks Akuma how he knows his mother. G Corporation soldiers have their guns trained on him, but Kazuya tells them to stand down and instead lead Akuma to the roof. Nina is shown alive after the blast, but defeated.Īkuma comes to G-Corporation in order to kill Kazuya. Lars, Alisa, and Lars's rebel soldiers fend off Tekken Force long enough to evacuate, and Lee then detonates the building with Nina and Tekken Force still inside. Tekken Force soldiers fall from the helicopter and Lee flies off with Jin. Tekken Force manage to get hold of Jin, but as Nina contacts her people in the helicopter, Lee's voice can be heard over the radio. She is confronted by the now repaired Alisa. At their head is Nina, who is attempting to capture Jin on Heihachi's orders. Tekken Force invades the Violet Systems facility where Jin is being held. In reality, Heihachi later escapes, though uses the opportunity to declare himself dead to the public. Heihachi and Akuma face off again, with Akuma seemingly killing Heihachi. Kazuya, unbeknownst to the pair, is listening in to this through one of the Jack-6 robots - he laughs at the idea that his mother would want him dead. Akuma tells him his name and that he was sent by Kazumi before her death to kill Heihachi and Kazuya. Heihachi and Akuma work together to defeat the robots, and Heihachi then asks who the demon is. Heihachi and Akuma fight, only for Jack-6 robots to break in. Heihachi is meditating at the Mishima Dojo when suddenly the doors burst open to reveal Akuma. Lars discourages him, telling him that he wants to kill Jin too, but that Jin is the only one that has a chance of stopping the conflict between Kazuya and Heihachi. The journalist, having met with Lars and Lee during his findings, approaches and intends to kill Jin in his sleep. Lee Chaolan, the CEO of Violet Systems, is fixing Alisa Bosconovitch, an android who was seemingly destroyed in the last game. He takes Jin to Violet Systems where Jin recuperates after the attack. Lars takes out the UN soldiers and flees with Jin. Jin wanders into a town in the desert, but before he can be recaptured by the UN, Lars Alexandersson arrives. Jin turns into his devil form however, and attacks, escaping his captors. Later, a United Nations helicopter is shown having captured Jin. He puts together the fact that Heihachi's father, Jinpachi Mishima, who was imprisoned beneath Hon-Maru, and the death of Heihachi's wife, Kazumi Mishima née Hachijo, happened the same year that Heihachi threw young Kazuya off a cliff. Claudio objects to helping the Zaibatsu, but Heihachi forces him to agree after he beats him.Įlsewhere, the journalist searches for information and finds something out about the Mishimas' history. He hopes to thus to turn public opinion against G-Corporation. Heihachi intends to expose Kazuya, now the current CEO of G Corporation, as a devil, since Kazuya possesses the Devil Gene. Heihachi and Nina strike a deal with Claudio Serafino, who is the leader of the Archers of Sirius, a secret society of exorcists with extensive resources. He announces the next King of Iron Fist Tournament. In the present day, Heihachi returns to the Mishima Zaibatsu building and regains control of the Mishima Zaibatsu after beating numerous Tekken Force soldiers and their commander, Nina Williams. Tekken 7 - Full Story Mode Movie (All Cutscenes) Heihachi beats Kazuya and throws him off a cliff, setting the Tekken games in motion. Kazuya is violently kicked away by Heihachi, and, as Kazuya gets back up, he is enraged and screams that Heihachi killed his mother. It is 40 years ago, and a five-year-old Kazuya Mishima is fighting his father, Heihachi Mishima. The rest of the game is also narrated from his perspective. Meanwhile, an investigative journalist, who lost his wife and son during the war that Jin started, begins to narrate the story of the Mishimas.

I then re-inserted the disk but the installation failed to complete as I had forgotten to log in as administrator. First I looked in "Control Panel" and "All Programs" to see if there was anything to uninstall, but found nothing. Whenever I logged on to my computer I got a dialog "Silverfast is not found in the system please check that it has been installed correctly." I re-read your readme and researched the website and have tried to re-install. My initial experiments with the 7600iSE were at least as good as the 4200F, although I do not believe I installed Silverfast correctly. Unlike the 4200F, I intend to connect the 7600i only when I need to use it. I had fairly good results scanning slides on the 4200F, but the procedure was slow and fiddly, so I bought the 7600i. I do not know if I have SCSI - the only reference on Belarc Adviser is "Sony SCSI Helper service 1.0" I have a Canon 4200F scanner (bundled with the excellent Arcsoft 5.5, which I have used extensively) attached permanently to a USB socket. I normally log in to XP as a "limited user" for security reasons. I have Adobe Audition and Reader but not Photoshop. A month ago I bought a Plustek 7600iSE scanner, to convert slides to digital, which, as you know was bundled with Silverfast 6.6. Diplomacy is as key to success as warmongering is.Īway from the straightforward thrills of multiplayer competitive combat and the Custom Battle mode which allows you to rig specific types of conflicts, the heart of Mount and Blade: Warband invariably lies in its ambitiously sprawling single-player campaign. For those who feel capable of the latter, Mount and Blade: Warband is frequently a veritable embarrassment of entertaining riches. So really, you will either absolutely detest Warband for its clumsy UI and dated audiovisual presentation, or, you’ll be able to look past those failings and foster a love for its ambitious and compelling hybrid of strategy and combat elements. Furthermore, it’s also hard to feel too slighted by the bereft of technical excellence in Warband, since after all it retails at a budget price point (around $20 tops), rather than the full price of the AAA efforts that many folk will see fit to compare it to. So from a technical perspective then, Mount and Blade: Warband clearly doesn’t fare so well, and yet it’s worth remembering that the Turkish developer behind the game is modestly sized to say the least. You see, while the musical score is both appropriately epic and majestic for an effort such as this – that wades so deeply into medieval themed waters – there is no voice acting whatsoever instead Warband relies upon walls of text as its primary mode of exposition, which not only feels dated but can be exasperating for the player too. The sense of scale in some of the battles can be quite something indeed.īeyond the visuals and the UI, the audio impresses but also simultaneously disappoints. It’s not just the visual side of things that look like they’re misplaced out of time either the UI is poorly optimised for PS4 too with the presence of an on-screen mouse cursor and lack of transitions between menu screens suggesting that the game was, probably quite literally, chucked into a conversion machine whereupon someone hurriedly pressed the big red version that said ‘Make PS4 Version’ and so here we are. I will say this however Warband does in fact trundle along at a rock-solid 60 FPS while maintaining a 1080p screen resolution and level of responsiveness to match, so it’s not all bad news from a visual perspective. With character models that look like they failed an audition for The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind back in 2001 (their facial expressions don’t change – ever) and when combined with geometrically simplistic world design, it’s fair to say that Mount and Blade: Warband isn’t really much of a looker at all. Let’s address the low-poly, jarringly animated elephant in the room first. Other mods may vary, but if they use Native's font settings, this should work there as well.Mount and Blade Warband PS4 Review Technically leaves a lot to be desired You'll need to restart Warband to test it out, and it may take a couple tries to adjust it so it's right where you want it, but that'll take care of the problem without having to change the content of the notifications or updating unrelated settings like your resolution.įWIW, I play primarily in Floris Expanded and it works fine there too, since Floris doesn't change typeface or text size. I have mine set just over 100, if I remember correctly. Locate the font_size value and increase it to a value between 90 and 120 or so. At the top of the file, there's a FontData parameter.Locate the font_data.XML file and right-click it, then choose Open in Notepad. In Windows, navigate to your \Steam\steamapps\common\MountBlade Warband\Data folder.I'm longer bothered by battle text covering half the screen during combat, and the rest of the game's text is still easily readable. Be aware that it'll change the size of all the text in the game, but I did so and found it incredibly useful. Unfortunately there aren't any options that control your font size directly, but you can change your font size by editing an XML file in your M |
